As the State of Colorado’s largest institution of higher education, the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) consists of 13 colleges and over 40 locations across the state, educating approximately 125,000 students in academic year 2020. In addition, we train more than 4,000 Coloradans each year through various other programs. The System Grant Accountant provides leadership, training, development, management and coordination of all aspects of fiscal compliance of CO-Helps and CO-Tech federal grant awards. They serve as the fiscal point of contact and provide technical assistance to other higher education partners in regards to CO-Helps and CO-Tech. This position provides expertise and analysis of accounting grant information within the Colorado Community College System Office.

  • Provide primary review of CO-Helps and CO-Tech fiscal reimbursement requests, including transfer entries between CCCS and System Colleges.
  • Develop and deploy processes to distribute funds and, where appropriate, business reimbursements to colleges for program development. Manage distributions and reimbursements to Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs).
  • Understand and apply other applicable federal regulations that govern the spending of federal dollars to internal and external grant spending.
  • Assist in training sub-recipients on allowable/unallowable costs, indirect costs, and reimbursement request preparation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two years of accounting experience.
  • Grant accounting and/or compliance experience.
  • Excellent Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills and ability to learn proprietary software.
  • Knowledge of accounting and purchasing practices, business acumen, and Excel spreadsheet development that includes working with formulas and macros with a financial emphasis.
  • Ability to utilize ERP.
  • Ability to utilize CORE.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of customers with varying degrees of financial sophistication.

Work Location/Travel Expectations

  • Physical location: 9101 E Lowry Blvd, Denver, CO 80230.
  • Travel is minimal, typically two or three conferences/trainings in or outside Colorado as necessary.

CCCS System Office employees are temporarily working remotely and may return to the office as guidelines allow. However, we do have options for alternative work schedules and teleworking that are combined with employees being present in the office as required.

This is a term-limited position, which is currently funded until 3/1/2024.
