The System Apprenticeship Grant Accountant provides leadership, training, development, management and coordination of all aspects of fiscal compliance of CO-Helps and CO-Tech federal grant awards. They serve as fiscal point of contact and provide technical assistance to IHE partners in CO-Helps and CO-Tech. This position assists with management of other CCCS grants, as needed. This position provides expertise and analysis of accounting grant information within the Colorado Community College System Office.

  • Develop and maintain grant fiscal guidance and guidance documents (reporting and reimbursement forms, etc.).
  • Develop and deploy processes to distribute funds to colleges for program development and, where appropriate, business reimbursements. Manage distributions and reimbursements to IHEs, and reporting in coordination.
  • Apply state regulations and fiscal rules that govern the spending of state dollars to internal and external grant spending.
  • Assist in training sub-recipients on allowable/unallowable costs, indirect costs, and reimbursement request preparation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of accounting experience.
  • Financial grant management experience.
  • Excellent Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills and ability to learn proprietary software.
  • Knowledge of accounting and purchasing practices, business acumen, and Excel spreadsheet development that includes working with formulas and macros with a financial emphasis.
  • Ability to utilize ERP.
  • Ability to utilize CORE.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of customers with varying degrees of financial sophistication.
  • Strong focus on customer service to both internal System staff and external users.

Work Location/Travel Expectations

  • The Finance Department is located in the System Office building at 9101 E Lowry Blvd, Denver, CO 80230.
  • Travel is minimal, typically two or three conferences/trainings in or outside Colorado.

This is a term-limited position, which will be funded until 3/1/2024.

This position is open until filled, although special consideration will be given to those who apply by March 8, 2021.
