The Programmer’s primary responsibility is to develop and support CCCOnline and the CCCS colleges’ web-based and back-end applications, including the web forms and in-house developed middleware used by System Office staff, instructors, and students and the eLearning staff across the colleges. The Programmer builds and implements technology solutions that support the CCCOnline processes for the Academic Affairs, Business Services, Student Affairs, Instruction Designers and Center of Excellence staff. Processes vary from preparing online courses for an upcoming semester, integrating publisher platforms with the LMS (D2L), instructor training, and LMS/Banner integration.

  • Provides programming, analysis, development, and support for CCCOnline homegrown and purchased applications that assist college eLearning and CCCOnline staff.
  • Develops and maintain data import and export interfaces between purchased applications, in-house applications, and other internal and external databases. Acts as the subject matter expert on the Learning Management System APIs and provide solutions for CCCOnline and colleges utilizing the APIs. 
  • Develops, maintains, and troubleshoots web applications vital to CCCOnline processes.
  • Assists college eLearning and CCCOnline users with upgrade implementations, tier 2 and 3 problem resolution, solution testing, and process improvements.
  • Works with the Director to assess needs, analyze requirements, coordinate acquisition/development, and integrate CCCOnline and 3rd party developed applications as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CIS, Management Information Systems, business, or closely related field. Progressively responsible work experience in a related field may substitute year for year for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python), Java or other similar languages, SQL and web development.
  • Two years of experience developing, integrating, and troubleshooting applications software, preferably web-based applications using HTML 5, JavaScript, AJAX, or comparable programs.
  • One year of experience in the development and troubleshooting of Web Services (e.g. WSDL, SOAP and REST).
  • Creativity, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within a higher education environment is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • This position is located at CCCS/IT 1059 Alton Way, Denver, CO 80230.
  • Occasional in-state travel, along with possible annual conference attendance or training.
