The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is managing projects and project teams to facilitate the on-time delivery of project objectives.  CCCS-IT Business Technology projects may include the following: very large, complex and multi-year new product implementations; development of new solutions and enhancements to existing solutions; and various approaches to resolving issues introduced by upgrades, patches, or new requirements.  The Project Manager follows established project management methodologies throughout each of the projects as appropriate.  They are also responsible for the coordination of testing software upgrades and patches, as well as troubleshooting and resolving functional and technical issues related to the software supported by CCCS-IT.  This position will provide input in setting or refining standards in order to support further development and maturity of the CCCS-IT Project Management Office and will serve as a resource to the other Project Managers and Quality Assurance Analysts.

  • Collaborate with business users in college functional groups (Human Resources and Payroll) to develop business cases and comprehensive project requests.
  • Facilitate the gathering of project requirements from various business users and technical staff members and develop written project and task specifications.
  • Identify, verify, and record task dependencies, efforts, and durations. Create accurate, detailed, and organized project task details. Manage resource allocation/contention across projects.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Ellucian Banner product/service line and related third-party vendor products, including the oversight and management of specific projects, staff, and deliverables.
  • Provide testing support for server, database and operating system updates and patches, as well as for Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity enhancements, including both planned and unplanned failovers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve functional and technical issues.
  • Work directly with the System Administrators, Developers, DBAs, Help Desk, Business Technology and other CCCS-IT team members in a collaborative, cooperative, and customer-centric environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Relevant education and experience in the appropriate functional, technical and/or management areas may substitute year for year for the required degree.
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience in either Project Management, IT, Human Resources, or Payroll; experience with a combination of these areas is especially desired.
  • Ability to manage and lead large, diverse groups.
  • Experience in using Microsoft tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of project management methodology.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Ability to coordinate, organize and track tasks effectively and meet project deadlines.
  • Team facilitation skills.
  • Effective listening skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, requiring minimum supervision and guidance.

Work Location/Travel Expectations

  • This position is located at CCCS/IT 1059 Alton Way, Denver, CO  80230.
  • Occasional in-state travel is required; may require out-of-state travel.
  • Some evening and weekend support is required, as CCCS-IT supports a 24x7 environment.
