The  instructional support professional provides help desk services to instructors teaching with the learning management system.  This person is the first point of contact for instructors experiencing technical difficulties; S/he will work closely with the Academic Technology department to correct technical problems which are widespread or impact a single instructor. 
Provide CCCOnline and CCCS member colleges with web accessibility expertise to ensure the development, revision, publication and maintenance of accessible web and digital content.  The position employs CCCS’ web accessibility standards as it applies to web and digital content accessibility.  
Review and ensure internal and external knowledge base articles for instructor support, self-help sites, how-to guides are current and accurate.
The successful candidate will work as a part of an innovative, creative, flexible, and entrepreneurial team.  S/he will provide leadership and expertise in the development and maintenance of a complete faculty support program for CCCOnline faculty. S/he will provide leadership in the development of appropriate instructional pedagogies through interaction with faculty in both one-on-one sessions and via professional  development workshops. S/he will help evaluate emerging technologies and assess their relevance to online teaching and learning.  S/he will facilitate the use of those technologies throughout the community college system.
  • Overall responsibility for the professional support desk for instructors, respond to support requests from instructors, recommend and develop training and support materials for instructors and staff.
  • Provide web accessibility expertise for web and digital content.
  • Work with Academic Technology to correct problems in the learning management system.
  • Participate in the evaluation of emerging technologies and changes in online teaching pedagogies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a computer related field.  Four years of progressively responsible work experience in a related field, above and beyond the experience requirements, may substitute for the degree.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience providing technical support.
  • Knowledge of web content accessibility standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with a course management system, preferably Desire2Learn.
  • Experience working with computers and the Internet.
  • Experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web technologies.
  • Advanced computer and browser troubleshooting skills (Mac and PC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Understanding of national standards for the delivery of online instruction.
  • Experience working with faculty/instructors, preferably at a distance (telephone and email).
